Agenda at a glance

1:30 - 5:00 PM
First Movers Forum (See Details Below)
Structure → Optimize → Scale. Three working sessions trace a single thread through the alternatives lifecycle — how a deal is structured, how its returns are optimized, and how the whole thing is operationalized to scale.
1:30 - 2:40 PM: Inside the 1031, 721 & DST Market (Part II): A Working Deep Dive
2:50 - 3:40 PM: Beyond the Exchange: PPLI, PPVA & the Insurance-Wrapper Playbook
4:00 - 5:00 PM: The Alts Operations Roundtable: Building Infrastructure That Scales
Each block is built for experienced practitioners but stays accessible. Whether you're a GP, a wealth manager, or an operations lead, every session is designed to be worth your seat.
1:30 - 2:40 PM
Inside the 1031, 721 & DST Market (Part II): A Working Deep Dive
Interactive Masterclass
The Focus: Creative structuring, market intelligence, and sharper due diligence
Instead of broad market generalities, this session works both sides of the deal: how these structures get architected and how they get vetted. The facilitators walk through the creative structuring decisions that shape a transaction: when a 721 UPREIT roll serves the client better than a DST, how to sequence a liquidity event for optimal outcomes, and where there's genuine room to engineer a smarter structure rather than default to the obvious one. They then turn the same blueprint to the diligence lens: mapping capital flows, stress-testing underwriting assumptions, and pointing out exactly where teams overlook hidden risks. The room is encouraged to interrupt, challenge assumptions, and throw out their own real-world transaction hurdles from the very first minute.
Facilitator: Taylor Garrett
President, Orchard Securities & Managing Partner, Mountain Dell Consulting
Facilitator: Mark Earley
Chairman, Ascentis Holdings
New to Alts?  A collaborative, open forum focused on how the industry is actively modernizing and automating the manual back-office infrastructure and operations underpinning private investments.

2:50 - 3:40 PM
Beyond the Exchange: PPLI, PPVA & the Insurance-Wrapper Playbook
Case-Study Brain Trust
The Focus:
Advanced, tax-efficient planning tools for alternative asset portfolios
Picking up directly where the 1031 discussion leaves off, this session approaches advanced tax-optimization as a live, high-end wealth management consultation. Rather than answering generalized questions, the room is presented with two highly specific, complex client case studies on screen — such as an ultra-high-net-worth family office allocating $50 million into yield-heavy private credit while trying to completely insulate the returns from ordinary income tax drag.

A leading tax specialist guides the session, tossing these live scenarios to the brain trust of legal, carrier, and alternative asset management experts. The group debates the real-world trade-offs in real time: evaluating custom Private Placement Life Insurance (PPLI) wrappers versus established Private Placement Variable Annuity (PPVA) structures, detailing the exact boundaries of the IRS Investor Control Doctrine, and calculating operational fee frictions.
New to Alts?  A look at specialized strategies that allow qualified high-net-worth investors to hold alternatives inside an insurance framework to optimize tax efficiency — a natural companion to the 1031 discussion.

The Alts Operations Roundtable: Building Infrastructure That Scales
Ecosystem Roundtable
The Focus:
An interactive, ecosystem-wide working discussion
The alternative investments industry continues to face systemic operational challenges that limit scalability and weigh on the end-investor experience. This interactive roundtable cuts through the noise, convening stakeholders from across the value chain — GPs, distributors, wealth platforms, fund administrators, custodians, and fintech innovators — to identify shared infrastructure friction points.

Designed entirely for open dialogue rather than passive listening, participants face each other in a large central circle to collaborate on where technology can be deployed most effectively, how to drive unified data standards, and which process changes will deliver the highest immediate impact for scaling transaction velocity.
Moderator: Martin Griffin
Senior Director / Head of Product, SS&C Technologies

The Mega Allocator Playbook
How the largest endowments and institutional investors are shifting capital for the decade ahead
When the world’s largest endowment funds and institutional allocators adjust their asset mix, the broader investment landscape feels the impact. Managing generational portfolios requires a continuous balancing act—weighing legacy alternative exposures against shifting public valuations, liquidity constraints, and evolving return benchmarks. Convening in 2026, this panel brings together leading allocators and institutional voices to unpack how these premier investment pools are actively recalibrating their long-term playbooks. Panelists will explore how they are managing existing portfolio concentrations, what structural shifts they expect over the decade ahead, and how they are evaluating relative value across private credit, infrastructure, secondaries, and evergreen structures. For investment strategists, this discussion offers a grounded, aggregate look at how the largest players are managing risk, raising the bar for manager selection, and navigating a more complex liquidity environment.

Mapping the White Space: Capitalizing on Sectors and Strategies Beyond the Crowded Core
Navigating the structural white space through sector-specific opportunities and niche strategies
As traditional private market segments become increasingly crowded, capturing outsized returns requires a sharper lens. The next frontier of alpha is migrating toward specialized white spaces: untapped or rapidly evolving sectors that demand deep domain expertise. This panel brings together pioneering strategists to debate the merits of dedicated sector funds versus broad-mandate strategies. From deep-tech infrastructure and specialized healthcare to the next generation of energy transition assets, we will explore the under-allocated corners poised for breakout growth. Whether through niche operators or traditional managers expanding into new verticals, this discussion will map out where the smart money is looking next, how leaders are underwriting complex, specialized risks, and what it takes to build a successful investment structure around tomorrow’s trends.

The Geopolitist: How Global Power Shifts Are Reshaping Where Capital Flows
Rare earth minerals, Europe’s defense posture, and strategic competition between the United States and China
Geopolitics has moved from background noise to a first-order variable in alternative investing. Who controls critical minerals? How durable is Europe’s rearmament cycle? And how far will strategic competition between the United States and China reshape global capital flows? This panel offers a clear-eyed view of how these forces are playing out in 2026 and what they mean for private markets. Our panelists will discuss which geopolitical themes are becoming durable investment opportunities, how investors should assess risk in a more fragmented global economy, and where geopolitical narratives may be running ahead of reality. Attendees will gain actionable insights into positioning portfolios amid escalating global tensions and technological decoupling.

Sharpening the Edge: Future-Proofing Wealth Management Practices
Optimizing practice management pillars, advisor models, and business growth
Regulatory frameworks are no longer just compliance parameters—they are actively rewriting the strategic opportunities and boundaries of alternative asset management and distribution. This executive briefing breaks down the seismic shifts reshaping the legal landscape since the beginning of SEC Chair Atkins’ term. Panelists will analyze the meaningful progress accelerating closed-end funds, alongside anticipated regulatory developments impacting private placements and registered vehicles. The discussion will dissect the implications of FINRA’s forward-looking modernization initiatives and the SEC’s sweeping new proposal to permanently preempt state blue sky laws for non-listed REITs and BDCs. Finally, firm leaders will share how forward-thinking organizations are engineering innovative, compliant structures to navigate this increasingly competitive ecosystem. Attendees will walk away with a definitive roadmap to stay ahead of the regulatory curve and leverage these shifting rules for sustainable growth.

Optimizing and Scaling Wealth Management Models
Integrating private capital into wealth advisory frameworks at scale
While wealth management appetite for private capital continues to climb, standardizing execution across model portfolio frameworks remains a persistent hurdle. Integrating structurally complex alternatives into unified managed accounts requires solving for liquidity management, valuation frequencies, and data transparency. This session explores how leading platforms, managers, and TAMPs are engineering centralized model marketplaces to overcome these traditional operational barriers. Panelists will analyze the structural evolution required to build scalable private market solutions—from advanced performance benchmarking and standardized data feeds to the long-term mechanics of price discovery and liquid vehicles. Attendees will gain actionable insights into how underlying valuation reporting is being streamlined to transform model portfolios into an efficient, repeatable distribution engine.

Timing the Turn: The Real Estate Renaissance and the New Vintage
Navigating the property cycle, sector rotations, and the capitalization of valuation bottoms
Following a prolonged period of pricing corrections, the real estate landscape is approaching a critical cyclical inflection point as interest rates stabilize and a generational vintage opportunity emerges. However, the era of passive, index-driven real estate returns has officially given way to a strict asset-picker’s market. This session brings together premier real asset operators and macro strategists to analyze exactly where property valuations have bottomed out and how capital is actively rotating into high-growth secular tailwinds. Moving past generic headlines, the panel will dissect the stark divergence between legacy commercial structures and booming verticals like logistics hubs, data center infrastructure, and specialized residential developments. Attendees will gain a tactical playbook for navigating this historic entry point, executing smart allocations, and timing the rotation back into real estate ahead of the curve.

Digital Architecture, Tokenization and Operational Evolution
Modernizing private market infrastructure to eliminate friction and scale transaction velocity
Theoretical debates surrounding blockchain and tokenization have officially given way to institutional reality. Major wealth platforms going live with enterprise-grade distributed ledger technology (DLT) pilots, paired with the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence, mark a definitive shift in how private market transactions are executed. This session moves past the digital asset hype to deliver a concrete case study on the backend modernization of alternative investments. Our panel of operations leaders, fund administrators, and transfer agents will dissect how digital architecture is systematically dismantling the friction of legacy processes. The discussion will map the operational impact of automating manual subscription documents, capital calls, and trade lifecycle remediation. Attendees will examine how a unified data model connects custodians, general partners, and legal registries to accelerate time-to-trade and support frictionless, institutional-grade scale.

The Futurist: Technologies That Could Redefine Humanity — or Never Fully Deliver
Fusion, quantum computing, AI, biomedicine, and the economics of reaching space
We are living through a convergence of exponential technologies that could transform energy, intelligence, biology, and humanity’s reach beyond Earth—or stall for decades ahead. Is fusion, with fundraising surpassing $13 billion, finally moving from promise to real possibility? Can quantum computing deliver actual practical advantage? Is solar no longer yesterday’s technology? Beneath the AGI hype cycle, where is real progress being made today? In biomedicine, CRISPR and cellular reprogramming are beginning to show early promise, while SpaceX continues to drive down the cost of reaching orbit. This panel offers a balanced view of where these technologies stand in 2026, which breakthroughs may create durable investment opportunities, and which are likely to remain moonshots.
New to Alts?  A wide-angle look at the breakthrough technologies that could become the great investments of the next decade — or stay science fiction. Open to everyone.

Due Diligence
Symposium FAQs

As part of the IPA’s Commitment to connecting Asset Managers and Distribution Partners, each of our events includes a Due Diligence Symposium (DDS). This unique opportunity allows Asset Managers to introduce their firms to Distribution Partner members in a focused, private setting. These symposia enable small-group meetings, ensuring that Asset Managers connect with all participating Distribution Partners during the conference. Sponsorship provides Asset Managers access to the DDS, but spaces are limited to ensure meaningful engagement and we encourage you to sign up today to become a DDS Sponsor. The DDS is open to Distribution Partners from wire houses, independent broker-dealers, family offices, and registered investment advisors (RIAs).
