IPA Applauds Confirmation of Paul Atkins as SEC Chairman

4.10.25

Last night, the Senate voted 52-44 to confirm Paul Atkins as Chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Mr. Atkins is broadly expected to work alongside the financial services sector to expand investor access and support both public and private capital markets.

The Institute for Portfolio Alternatives (IPA) looks forward to collaborating with Chair Atkins and his incoming team to strengthen the alternative investments community and advance key policy priorities, such as expanding accredited investor eligibility and simplifying access to alternative investments through 401(k) plans, among other initiatives.

"Mr. Atkins brings a deep understanding of the capital markets and the American investor. He's also clearly committed to fostering innovations that will benefit Main Street investors and grow our economy," said Anya Coverman, IPA President & CEO. "He has rightly noted that individuals deserve more investment choices when building resilient, diversified portfolios. Under his leadership, we look forward to working with the SEC to expand access to alternative investment funds."
